My Recipe Video Contest Entry - Coconut & Choc Cake

Mark Sisson is still running competitions over on Mark's Daily Apple. The recipe video contest caught my eye because it's been a while since I've done some bakery tinkering.

Don't watch the video if you are serious about baking. You will almost certainly be offended. In fact this is an abject lesson in how not to bake.

If you do watch it, look out for the moment when the blender turns itself on. Spooky.

Neverthless, the cake did taste quite nice. Maybe I just got lucky. The video is here.

Hello James - thanks for recommending the blog. I had a quick look at that page but there were so many entries I stopped looking. I hope you win, but the odds are slim. I think I overdid it with the miswak the other day and irritated my gums. Gave them a few days off and now they're fine.
is this "recipe" in text anywhere? I'm doing an anti-candida diet and need some chocolate bad....

here's the link to the site I (loosely!) based the recipe on. Another tip if you are craving chocolate: dip a banana into unsweetened cocoa powder. Take a bite, dip, repeat. Beware, this can get out of control...!
I loved this video on the MDA site! The others I've seen so far are so boooring! I found your cooking to be entertaining and hilarious that you added no sweetener to the cake. I tried that with zucchini cocoa muffins one time and they were terrible. Anyway, I was dying to know if it came out edible so I navigated to your site and turns out you said it was good... nicely done!

Thanks Liz... I think I will use fewer eggs next time, maybe 6, and perhaps mash a banana into the cake mixture itself to add a little sweetness. Good luck!
This video inspired me to cook less formally, focusing on the general idea rather than specific numbers. Lot less tedious and more productive this way imo.

Glad to have inspired a more relaxed approach. Hope it works out for you. It's more fun, but be prepared for the occasional disaster!
